The Junno District

The most ancient part of Mont St. Angelo is the Junno district. The name of this neighbourhood takes its origin from the mythical King Pilunno, adored as a god by the inhabitants of this area. The Church of the Holy Saviour here has been created from a temple built in King Pilunno's honour.

The essential structure of the district dates back to the Middle Ages, having undergone various transformations with the passing of time.
